Friday, July 3rd, 2009 - Springfield Firecrakcer 5k run or 1 mile walk - Springfield, SD
* WHEN: Friday, July 3rd at 9:00 AM (Registration from 8:00 to 8:45)
* WHERE: Register inside Club Fit (New Fitness Center located right behind Doug’s Food Center on Main Street)
* Race will begin just west of the First Savings Bank on Main Street.
* ENTRY FEE: $15 for race/walk with T-Shirt. Special Rate for 12 and under: $10 with shirt.
* COURSE: The course will wind through the streets of Springfield, passing by the scenic Missouri River and over the bike trail.
The course will begin and end near the intersection of 8th & College Streets.
* Walkers will have the opportunity to walk a 1-mile course or the 5k course.
* AWARDS: Trophies will be presented to the top qualifiers in each division. Men and women will be split into age groups on race day.
COME OUT AND SUPPORT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY! All ages and experience levels welcome! Bring the kids! Proceeds will be used to benefit local charities.

10K & 5K runners will be transported to the starting point south of Menno on 431st St.  The 10K has a hill at

DEERFIELD - Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. (MST), with the race set to start at 9 a.m.
Several divisions include men and women, high school and under, age 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59 and
60 and over, and a men's and women's walking division.
Awards are overall men and women winners, and the top three in each age division. There will also be a free picnic after the race.
To get to the race, take Highway 14 from Hill City to where it branches to Deerfield, and go straight ahead about five miles on 231.
This 8 mile run traverses thru the Black Hills and is a favorite of many from SD.

The event includes a timed 13.1 mile run down the gorgeous Spearfish Canyon, a paved, slightly downhill route with four water stops.
Medals will be awarded to every participant who finishes the half marathon. Place medals will be awarded to the top three runners in
each category (male/female and age categories). We will also have a timed 5K Run/Walk, which will begin and end in the park and take
participants through part of the canyon. Medals will be awarded to the top two participants in each category. However, if you don’t
want to “compete”, you’re welcome to take your time walking the route and enjoying the scenery!
Registration and check-in will be from 6:15-6:45 a.m. At 7 a.m., half marathon participants will board buses to take them up to the
starting point at Savoy. Both the half marathon and the 5K run/walk will begin at 7:30 a.m.
This event benefits the Northern Hills Area CASA Program, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and
protect the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings through the advocacy of trained volunteers.
Your registration donation is tax deductable, and 100% of your donation will go to help these children.
All paid participants will receive a T-shirt. Beverages and snacks will be provided, and door prizes will be awarded at the end of the event.
